Our career panels are held every month and give scholars insight into various careers and the education and work experience required for different professions. The career panel runs from 3:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. at Aurora Central High School and allows speakers about 10 minutes each to discuss their past work, education experience, and current profession. After each speaker has presented, there will be time for Q&A from our scholars.
We encourage our guest speakers to not only share their successes along the way, but also their challenges and setbacks. This is what will inspire our scholars the most and encourage them that they too can stand back up and continue on. Other possible topics to consider are:
- How did you choose your career?
- What did you study in college and did that prepare you for your position?
- What qualifications are needed for your position and/or entry level position?
- What setbacks and challenges have you encountered in your career?
- What advice would you offer to someone thinking of joining your field?
If you sign up for a slot, we would like to share your resume and/or short bio with the scholars beforehand so they are better equipped to ask questions.
In order for us to keep our topics and discussions new, we ask for our career panelists to please volunteer once every other year. We appreciate your support!
*PLEASE LEAVE YOUR JOB TITLE IN THE COMMENTS WHEN YOU SIGNUP.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to nurture and guide motivated young people in need to become well-educated, career-ready men and women for others.
Description
At BHGHCO, education is seen as the key to self-sufficiency and college is the avenue towards a career for a stable future. For over 25 years, BHGHCO has been providing a pathway to a successful future for young people who have the ambition and determination to achieve a college education and a life of service but do not have the supports to reach this goal. We believe that motivated children can overcome significant barriers and develop their inherent talents when engaged in strong relationships and opportunities for academic and character development. By opening a doorway of opportunity for these young scholars through year-round college-preparatory supports, they are able to thrive in an environment that empowers them and allows them to develop their life skills and strengths.
