Do you have a personal connection to mental illness, strong public speaking and organizational skills, and a passion for helping others? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer to be the Connection Program Manager at NAMI San Fernando Valley/Santa Clarita Valley. This person will help create and execute a plan to advertise, promote, and grow the Connection program throughout the Santa Clarita & San Fernando Valleys. Bringing this life-saving program to our community is impossible without the support of this role.

ABOUT NAMI’s Connection Recovery Support Program: NAMI’s Connection Recovery Support Group is a free, peer-led support group for adults living with mental illness. The groups meet on a bi-weekly, weekly or monthly basis.

The Connection Program Manager will:

  1. Actively explore and list us with online groups, blogs, etc. that promote support for peers. Keep a running document of ideas and share via Google Docs.

  3. Help make outreach presentations.
  4. Help recruit and screen reliable, committed group facilitators and mentees.
  5. Become a Connection facilitator, if not one already.
  6. Build rapport with group members by making regular calls to keep them engaged.
  7. Plan and organize monthly or bi-weekly fun group participants.
  8. Report weekly group attendance data.
  9. Complete brief program and training reports to NAMI California.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • A personal connection with mental health either through family, friends or personal ties
  • Enthusiasm for helping people, their families, teachers and faculty around mental health-related issues

  • Polished professionalism
  • Reliable transportation
