Volunteers are the heart of Heartland Hospice! We are looking for Veterans who live in DeKalb or a surrounding community to join our growing team of volunteers. We recognize that Veterans share a special bond. The goal of our We Honor Veterans Vet-to-Vet Volunteer Program is to match Veteran patients with a hospice trained Veteran volunteer who may have a similar background. Veteran Volunteers can provide friendly visits to Veteran patients and their families. Others may participate in our We Honor Veterans pinning ceremonies. As a volunteer, you help determine which tasks you are best suited to perform. Service hours are extremely flexible and scheduled according to your availability and location. Veteran Volunteer requirements: must be at least 18 years old; agree to a background/reference check; have reliable transportation; and attend an orientation where you will learn about the philosophy of hospice care and our company, how to effectively communicate with your patients and their families, and the volunteer role.
