The Salvation Army is a community based, nonprofit agency that partners with other resources to assist people in need. The Salvation Army Food Shelf in Blaine is looking for a couple volunteers to help on Wednesdays.
Front Desk Volunteers are needed on Wednesday mornings from 8:30/9:00 AM to 12:30 PM to answer phones; greet and assist people; look up and schedule appointments via the computer. Volunteers would be comfortable with computers and entering information to schedule appointments. Volunteers would also enjoy answering phones, working with families of diverse economic and social backgrounds. Training is provided.
Substitute Front Desk Volunteers are also needed to fill in for shifts as needed. This is a great flexible opportunity for volunteers who may not be able to commit to serving regularly. Many volunteers may take vacations, go south for the Winter, or North Bound to Cabins in the Summer. Volunteers would be called in advance to work out which dates coverage is needed.
Food Shelf Volunteers are needed on Wednesday Afternoons to sort and organize donated foods, stock the shelves, keep the food shelf in a neat and orderly appearance, provide a welcoming atmosphere for those visiting the food shelf and assist clients with choosing their food order.
