Spooky Lantern Tour, Campfire Storyteller Jersey Devil of Whitesbog Village

The main Date is Saturday October 26th and the Rain Date is October 27th. We will go on in light mist or passing shower, but check in with us to see if the rain date will be in use. We need volunteers who are ready to help on either day.

We are looking for kids, families, parents, grand parents, individuals, teams, clubs and more to come out and help create scary settings and scare visitors at our annual Haunted and Spooky Hike and Tour of the Historic Village. Children should be accompanied by an adult. All proceeds benefit the preservation of the village.

Our theme is 1920's era haunted woods farm, so overalls, nightgowns, vintage skirts, Newsies, Annie-type outfits and hats are perfect, suspenders, mucky farm worker pants and boots, hunters jackets, army, rain ponchos, lost hikers/campers, coveralls, Scooby-doo villians unmasked, creepy kids, ghosts, skeletons, wicked witch of the west, the mummy, scarecrows, Jersey Devil, TB ward nurses and patients, Victorian, Edwardian, gothic, Adams Family, looks also work. We will have some aprons, caps, glasses, cloaks and make up on hand to help with your look.

Please no bloody/gore, scary clowns.

Yes: pale, gaunt, black and white, shadows, vintage horror, check out movie titles like The Black Cat, 13 Ghosts, Nosferatu, Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde, The Phantom Carriage, American Gothic.

We need a good number of volunteers for the haunted hike and wagon rides, some actors can stay seated in the historic houses, on porches or on wagons, but others will be needed to walk the trails in the woods. We will go on in light drizzle Sunday, same hours. You may need boots or galoshes for the trail, it can be muddy. Guides will have lanterns and walk from house to house, through barns, up stairs, down dark trails with roots and twigs. Ghouls will have locations along the trails and in buildings, in windows to form shadow play.

Guides and ghouls will get an orientation when you arrive, get help with makeup, masks and costumes/props and be assigned a location. Hot and cold beverages and snacks will be available for all and bathrooms are located in the General Store.

Make it a family tradition to help out! This is a long-running program in the village and some adults remember coming as a kid!

If you want to arrive earlier and help set up props on the trail, we welcome more volunteers!
