Join the Whitesbog Events Team and help in the preservation of Whitesbog Historic Village. You will get to work behind the scenes on many events and programs including Blueberry Festival, and so much more. Blueberry Festival is the biggest fundraising event of the year for Whitesbog Preservation Trust and takes many many volunteers to make it happen. Join us today and help make a difference in preserving Whitesbog Historic Village. Funds raised go towards supporting Whitesbog Preservation Trust's (WPT) efforts to preserve and restore Whitesbog Historic Village, birthplace of the cultivated blueberry and a key piece of New Jersey's agricultural heritage. Funds raised support programs for the public, museum exhibits, field trips, tours and family events including Living History Days, Spooky Tours, Wagon Rides, Tractor shows, Maker's Day and more. Families, friends and couples are welcome to work together and individuals who enjoy talking with the public are great! Whitesbog visitors include diverse travelers such as hikers, walking groups, horse-back riders, visitors from out of state, people touring the Pine Barrens, local residents, school children, homeschoolers, people interested in the history of the village, explorers, families and seniors. On occasion we have an evening event or special tour where visitors want to shop in the store as well. A minimum commitment is not required. Interested? Call (609) 893-4646 or email Whitesbogevents@gmail.com for more details. Whitesbog Preservation Trust is a membership based nonprofit that helps preserve and promote Whitesbog Historic Farm & Village in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. We greet and welcome visitors from all over the region, attend outreach events throughout the year to share the education programs in Whitesbog Historic Village and reach out to new volunteers and members. The membership committee also helps organize member events including recruitment, Open Houses, parties and special tours. We also host special events to thank volunteers (picnics and holiday parties) and to thank members, and we need help brainstorming, planning and creating events just for members. Each week volunteers enter new memberships into our database and send out letters confirming the membership and the donation amount. We use a database to manage members and donors and and we need helpers to enter names, dates, etc. into the database on a weekly basis as well as help attach mailing labels to newsletters sent out to members and send out emails and upcoming event notices and flyers. Help restore and keep up Elizabeth Coleman White's historic gardens and trails and restore historic blueberry fields and cranberry bogs. Mulching and weeding are a big part of the volunteer work to be done. Great for people who enjoy volunteering in a public and historic garden. Most of the volunteer work is done during Whitesbog's volunteer workdays which are usually the first Saturday of the month from 9 am to 2 pm (lunch is provided). We have goves and tools! Some training is provided to guide newbies in the plants of the garden, which specializes in native plants of the Pine Barrens. Meet other plant lovers and botanists who love exploring and photographing plants in the region.
