Patient Eligibility Assistant- Medical Clinic

Purpose: The position of Patient Eligibility Assistant serves as support to Friendship Center’s Medical Clinic, supporting the organization’s mission of helping our clients through the journey of aging with health, dignity, and respect. The Patient Eligibility Assistant represents the organization to the clients that visit our clinics by reviewing and explaining the eligibility packet and requirements prior to Meeting with The Front Desk manager/Eligibility Coordinator This position is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and the 1 st, 3 rd, and 5 th Friday of the month.

Location: The Patient Eligibility Assistant works in the medical clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

Improve patient experience

Have a good work ethic

Greet people and assist as needed

Medication Assistance and Patient Eligibility for HS Medical and Dental

Answer the phone, direct calls and take phone messages

Data Entry and Scan Documents

Send and receive faxes

Enter data and complete required for reports

Sort and file including confidential records

Assist with various projects

Direct Supervisor: Benjamin Rodriguez

Length of Appointment: The Patient Eligibility Assistant is assigned to 4 hours every other week period of three months. More hours may be assigned at the volunteer’s request. After three months, the Patient Eligibility Assistant may be reappointed for another three months at the discretion of the supervisor. After six months, the person who is serving as Patient Eligibility Assistant may rotate to another position within the organization.

Time Commitment: One day every other week (Monday, Tuesday, or Friday) for four (4) hours (8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m.), for a minimum of three months.

Qualifications: Basic knowledge of computer and data entry. Pleasant manner, patience, problem-solving ability, dependability. Able to bend, reach, stretch and lift to access files

Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition, the Front Desk Manager will be available for questions and assistance.

Dress Code: Business Casual or Scrubs; Comfortable foot ware, lab coat if desired.
