Ocean trash is a serious pollution problem that affects the health of people, wildlife and local economies. Join Virginia Aquarium on Saturday, September 15th as we participate in the International Coastal Cleanup; the world’s largest volunteer effort to clean our ocean and waterways. This is a great opportunity for family members to volunteer together. It's also ideal for youth and adult groups. The minimum age requirment is 5 years with an adult. Following confirmation of your registration, you will be emailed an event itinerary no later than Wednesday, September 12th.

The mission of the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is to inspire conservation of the marine environment through education, research and sustainable practices.
Description
The Aquarium showcases Virginia’s diverse and unique marine environment. The 89 acre campus includes: two exhibit buildings; a one-third-mile long nature trail; Virginia native gardens; an aviary with over 30 species; 3D theater; gallons of aquariums; 360 interactive exhibits; live animal habitats and two touch pools. The animal collection of approximately 12,000 represents over 700 species. Seasonal boat trips, as well as premium behind the scene exhibits add a deeper dimension to guest visits.
In recent years, the Aquarium's research and conservation efforts have grown. The Virginia Aquarium was the first certified Green Attraction in the Commonwealth. It has also taken the lead by hosting e-cycling events and developing a Sensible Seafood program. The organization is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks & Aquariums (AMMPA).
