The Community Outreach Associate helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies by distributing Red Cross information at community events, resource fairs, and disaster preparedness expos.
Responsibilities:
- Distribute printed Red Cross information to the community at events and meetings
- Answer basic questions about the Red Cross and refer the public to organizational resources
- Pick up, transport, and return printed and display materials in a timely manner
- Set up and maintain event display (e.g., tablecloth, flag & brochures-table and chairs are provided by event host)
- Represent Red Cross in a professional and friendly manner
- Attend periodic informational and functional meetings
- During a major disaster, assist with phone bank (if needed).
Time Commitment:
Events typically last 3 to 5 hours. Must be able to participate and support a minimum of 2 events annually.
Qualifications:
- Good communications skills and grooming
- Basic knowledge of Red Cross programs and services
- Access to transportation
- Dependable, punctual
- Friendly, personable
- Willingness to attend training
- Access to transportation
- Good standing record with DMV
