Skyland Workforce Center needs volunteers to help our job seekers create professional resumes and complete online job applications in our computer lab!

Job Search & Resume Help is offered every Tuesday, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and every Thursday, from 9:30am to 12:30pm.

This volunteer position is unpaid. Volunteers must be 18 years old or over. Training is provided.

We need volunteers who are:

  • Available to volunteer during our standard business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm)
  • Experienced using Microsoft Office applications and Google products
  • Comfortable navigating employment websites such as Indeed or Idealist
  • Professional, community-oriented, and interested in helping people from diverse backgrounds
This volunteer opportunity is perfect for retirees, professionals who work flexible schedules, and college students.

Skyland Workforce Center is a project of Building Bridges Across the River, a ward 8 nonprofit. The Center provides programs and services to help connect job seekers with opportunities, training, and resources that can help them obtain employment and improved quality of life.

Description

Skyland Workforce Center is a collaborative of nonprofit organizations that aims to provide a continuum of holistic, high-quality workforce development programs in one location, leading to work-ready candidates, economic self-sufficiency, and improved quality of life.

Six nonprofit partners collaborate at the Center:

Byte Back = computer literacy classes
Calvary Women's Services = job search assistance and case management for women
Life Asset = entrepreneurship and small business coaching
Marshall Heights Community Development Organization = housing and credit counseling and financial literacy
Samaritan Ministry/Strive = case management and job readiness
Southeast Ministry = GED tutoring and adult basic education
