ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association, Colorado Chapter

Use your experience in caregiving (either professional or family) to help others dealing with Alzheimer's and other related dementias. Time commitment is around 4 hours per month. The focus is on facilitation - no in depth knowledge of Alzheimer's is required. Training to facilitate a group is provided.

Volunteers are needed in various locations and times around the Boulder, Colorado area. We are currently holding all support groups virtually through either phone calls or an online video platform but will be expected to live around Boulder area. Volunteers must be comfortable with technology but we do provide training and resources!

This specific meeting will be the 3rd Thursday of each month from 12:00-1:30 pm.

We lead Colorado in the fight against Alzheimer's disease and related disorders by increasing the understanding of dementia and its impact on family and community, providing information and support for those affected, and promoting the advancement of research.

Description

The Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter works with diagnosed individuals, families, caregivers and health care professionals to provide care and support for those who are affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. We provide a 24/7 Helpline; offer free and confidentail Care Consultations; manage 90 support groups monthly; oversee Memories in the Making art program in area nursing homes; present educational programs across the state; and assist in enrolling persons with the disease in safety programs. We offer culturally approptiate support for Latinos, African Americans and the LGBT community. Several time during the year we have fundraising events, including: The Walk to END Alzheimer's, The Longest Day, the Memories in the Making Gala and Riv/ALZ.
