Program:

Jewish Family Service (JFS) is a client-centered, impact-driven organization working to build a stronger, healthier, more resilient San Diego. JFS is seeking a committed volunteer to join our Accounting Team. The JFS Accounting Department works to maintain accurate financial records and produces payments or reimbursements for employees, volunteers, clients, and other vendors.

Goal of Position:

To gain work experience and basic skills in accounting principles as they relate to nonprofit organizations.

Benefits:

• Enhanced knowledge regarding application of accounting principles
• Experience using Accounting and other computer software

Tasks/responsibilities:

• Verifying backup transactions in the Accounting system
• Filing documents
• Scan documents and link electronic documents to Accounting records

Qualifications:

• Attention to detail
• Basic understanding of Accounting Principles
• Experience with Windows applications

Requirements:

1. Must be able to provide own transportation to the Turk Family Center
2. Must pass a state and federal background check
3. Must be at least 18 years old
4. Complete a volunteer application at www.jfssd.org/volapp
5. Complete volunteer interview and orientation

Time Commitment:

Minimum of 4-10 hours per week for 6 months
