The D. R. Evarts Library in Athens, NY would like to host an adult, English as Another Language drop-in class for speakers of other languages on Monday evenings from 6-8 pm. Literacy Connections of the Hudson Valley is looking for a team of volunteers to be available to conduct this class.
No previous teaching experience or foreign language background is necessary! The only prerequisite is a love of reading, and a desire to share the gift of literacy. New volunteers are required to attend a free orientation session, and complete the online training modules, which can be adapted to fit most schedules. Trained volunteers are provided ongoing support as they work with students.
The Orientation Session will be held at the D. R. Evarts Library, corner of 2 nd and North Church Streets, Athens, NY on Monday, July 30 th from 6-8 pm. The follow-up session is scheduled for Monday, August 27 th from 6-8 pm at the same location. At the orientation session you will learn about Literacy Connections, and receive your login information to begin the online tutor training modules.

Literacy Connections’ Columbia and Greene County Office is located within the office of the Hudson Area Library and regular hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 am to 5 pm, Wednesdays 1-8 pm and Fridays from 10 am-3 pm.
