Do you have experience writing grants?

Roots for Life is looking for an experienced volunteer grant-proposal researcher and writer.

Expectations

You will work remotely and on your own schedule, though we require a minimum commitment of 10 -15 hours a month. Our staff are full-time working volunteers, we communicate mostly through email. All staff are required to respond to emails on a daily basis. If you possess a high level of self-motivation, work well independently, strive for excellence, and can commit quality time per week on a regular basis to help achieve team goals, we’d like to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporations
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants
  • Assess our organization's programs, goals and financial needs
  • Create timely and accurate reports of existing grant-funded projects
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with grant writing
  • Proficient Internet research skills
  • Familiarity with Foundation Directory Online or other databases
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Interest in public health, food, and nutrition
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
