Guardian Corps is the newest project of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Suffolk County. We are looking for compassionate people (maybe who have been a caregiver themselves) to work as part of a team to support and act as surrogate decision makers to ensure the health and safety of incapacitated adults who have been deemed by the courts to be in need of advocacy and someone to check on them about 3 times a month(with another team member) and speak up for them when a need arises. You will not be a guardian but rather a case monitor to help Guardian Corps in assisting these people. Training, comradery, and the knowledge that you are making a difference on an older person's life. Perfect for retired nurses and social workers....but anyone with common sense and a big heart is welcome. For further info on the Guardian Corps please email: director@rsvpsuffolk.org

Mission Statement
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program's mission is to provide volunteer opportunities that adddress our areas educational, environmental, public safety and human needs. In doing so RSVP fosters civic responsibility while strengthening the ties that bind us together as people. RSVP volunteers are matched by skills and interests to over 100 not-for-profits in Suffolk County. The senior remains active and essential in their community by giving of their time and the volunteer stations reap the benefits of having experienced, committed adults who have "free" time to dedicate to their cause. Our volunteers are as diverse as RSVP's volunteer stations: from blood services, to wildlife refuges to food pantry's and a speakers bureau with 100's of other placements to chose from. There is something for everyone!
