ORGANIZATION: NMDP

Purpose
The focus of the Administrative Volunteer role is to provide support to Be The Match Walk+Run program staff. Be The Match Walk+Run is a national event series that raises awareness and money to help more patients afford transplant, add potential marrow donors to the registry, and fund life-saving research.

The volunteer will assist with projects for the Foundation’s Administrative Specialists, Development Managers, Senior Development Manager, and Volunteer Specialist. The position will involve a range of work depending upon the current needs of the department and strengths of the volunteer.

The role will primarily consist of in-office work, with potential of completing some projects from home.

Responsibilities
* Mailings - sending out event promotion materials, mailing volunteer gifts and participant awards
* Outreach - researching available avenues for event promotion and volunteer recruitment, creating online postings
* Inventory - packing and unpacking event supplies, organizing event t-shirts
* Database management - adding activities to constituent records in Raisers Edge, updating/correcting addresses in Luminate
* Other responsibilities as assigned

Length of Appointment
Up to 6 months, renewable

Time Commitment
* 1-2 days/week (regularly scheduled days preferred)
* Tuesday-Friday, 9am-4pm (flexible based on volunteer’s availability and program’s needs)

Qualifications
* Able to use office tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, copier, and scanner
* Comfortable with both open-ended work and repetitive tasks
* Knowledge of/experience with Raisers Edge, preferable

Organization Description

For people with life-threatening blood cancers - like leukemia and lymphoma - or other diseases, a cure exists. Be The Match (r) connects patients with their donor match for a life-saving marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant. People can be someone’s cure as a member of the Be The Match Registry (r), financial contributor or volunteer. Be The Match provides patients and their families one-on-one support, education, and guidance before, during and after transplant.
