PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Volunteer Resources department supports the services and activities of the Los Angeles LGBT Center by developing and providing opportunities for individuals to be involved in the community through a commitment of their time, talents and resources.
JOB SUMMARY:
The David Bohnett Cyber Center Monitor is a volunteer position that is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and an environment of safety for all clients and visitors who want to use the computer lab. The volunteer is responsible for staffing and managing the computer lab, ensuring that all clients have an opportunity to use highly functioning computers and help them along with their computer-related tasks. The volunteer is responsible for assisting the client in navigating through the Internet, printing tasks, and other basic technical computer needs. It is also the volunteer’s responsibility to maintain a clean work environment, enforcing in-house computer lab policies and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and oversee the Cyber Center to allow for clients to be able to utilize the computers;
- Assign computers to visitors and make sure that their computer needs are met;
- Assist visitors with Internet use, printing, and other computer-related tasks;
- Maintain a clean workspace and ensure that in-house Cyber Center policies and regulations are met;
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Good computer skills;
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus;
- Responsible, respectful and dependable;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientation and gender identities in a multicultural setting.
TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Some experience in a reception, general office, or front office work type environment.
