Are you fascinated by Flamingos, riveted by River Otters, or wild for Wart Hogs? Bring your frenzy for fauna to Oakland Zoo and become a Docent.
Applications are welcome on an ongoing basis for the training that begins in January each year. Interested candidates should download, complete, and submit a Docent Application by September 15, 2015.
All volunteers must attend an orientation meeting. Orientation meetings have been scheduled for October 10th , Novembr 14th , November 21st , and December 12th from 10:00am-1:00pm. It is mandatory that applicants attend one of these orientations. Training runs January 9 through April 9, 2016 (8:30am-3:00pm).

Docents and Volunteers work with the Conservation and Education Department and it is their mission to inspire compassion for and conservation of all living things. The Docents and Volunteers work with staff to impart knowledge, serve as mentors, and create opportunities for people to be active learners.
