Join the Green Redmond Partnership to help Idylwood Park! The plan for the day is to remove aggressive weeds like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry from the forest, and to get it ready for planting trees and shrubs in October. This event helps to benefit Idylwood Creek, which is connected to Lake Sammamish and is home to Kokanee salmon and cutthroat trout. Our work will help protect the stream and make it a healthier place for local fish, other wildlife, and park visitors.

No experience needed. All tools and gloves provided.

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
