Heartland Hospice is seeking a volunteer quilter to donate time and materials for our annual Memorial Quilt.

Each year, Heartland Hospice hosts a Memorial Service in memory of patients, friends, and loved ones who have died. The centerpiece of the Memorial Service is the "Memory Quilt" which is made from pieces of fabric donated by friends and family members in memory of a loved one who has passed on. We ask that people use a piece of fabric that was meaningful to their loved one, or a piece of fabric that reminds them of their loved one. We encourage the use of cotton percale fabric squares, 10" x 10", but receive all types of fabric and varied sizes. This has resulted in some lovely, one of a kind works of art.

The Annual Memorial Service is usually held in November, with the cut-off date for fabric submissions in mid-April. Once complete, the quilt is proudly and prominently displayed at the Memorial Service and is then given pride of place, hanging in the Heartland Hospice offices, with a plaque bearing the year the quilt was made and the name of the quilter. Photos are made of quilt and the people who attend the Memorial Service are given a photo of the quilt to take home with them. Copies of the photo are mailed to others who are interested.

We are unable to recompense for the quilt, so this will truly be a labor of love. Our staff, patients, and their loved ones treasure these Memory Quilts and the people who lovingly create them.
