Gifford Cat Shelter is the oldest no-kill cat shelter in the country. Since the late 1800’s, it has saved the lives of thousands of cats while providing them with excellent care and pairing them with great adopters. The shelter is located in Brighton near Boston College and the green line. It is managed by a small staff and a group of dedicated volunteers.
The Gifford Board of Directors is seeking to expand and add an additional member. Candidates should have a passion for animals, an ability to work productively with other board members, the staff, volunteers and the overall Gifford community, experience that will enable she/he to contribute to board discussions and decisions, and be able to commit requisite time to the organization. In addition, for this specific board role, we are seeking candidates with some combination of experience and skills in marketing, fundraising and/or development to assist with these key areas.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide homeless cats with high-quality care in a safe, healthy, and
loving environment. We work to find safe, healthy, and loving permanent homes for the
cats in our care and to educate potential adopters and the general public about cat welfare
issues. We are the first cageless, no-kill shelter in the country and have been in existence since 1884.
We will never euthanize cats to create room to take in more cats.
