If painting is your passion and your co-workers, church group or friends are willing to raise your paint brushes for the Scleroderma Foundation Michigan Chapter, this volunteer opportunity will meet your needs. We have a two room office located at 9 1/2 mile road on Telegraph in Southfield, MI. We are in of two fresh coats of paint and we need YOU! With a staff of one and only scleroderma volunteers who can not be the room with fresh paint we can't tackle this task ourselves, so we need wonderful people like you to move the furniture, paint and of course laugh while you have a bonding experience with your group. If you do not know, scleroderma is an autoimmune condition that touches the lives of over 10,000 people in Michigan and 1 out of 906 Americans. Children, men and women have scleroderma and currently there is no known cause, cure and very few treatments exist for the disease. Scleroderma hardens the internal organs for our patient population and can harden the skin. It effects every patient very differently and for some can be a mild condition, and for others can be fatal. We work hard every day to assure our three-fold mission of support, education and research is met and to provide HOPE to patients, their family members and caregivers! We will provide the paint and brushes. You just need to bring the able bodied group of fun-loving people willing to do the work. We thank you in advance for considering this volunteer position, a labor of love for our organization and please know the difference you will be making in the lives of so many. Painting can be done during the week or on the weekend. Hours and times can be arranged to your schedule. Contact Laura Dyas at ldyas@scleroderma-mi.org for more information. The job can take as few as 10 volunteers or as many as 30.
