Case Manager for People Facing Homelessness

Initiative: Beyond the Basics

Impact Area: Basic needs (food, clothing, housing)

Location: Hartford, CT

Hours: Weekend mornings and afternoons

Desired level of commitment: Once per month, two hours

Duration: Year-round

Age requirement: 18

Tasks may include:

  • Coordinating and providing care that is timely, effective, equitable and client-centered
  • Helping clients who are facing homelessness to make informed decisions, acting as their advocate, and exploring their options
  • Following up with clients and keeping track of their progress to ensure wellness
In order to volunteer, you should be:
  • A registered Urban Alliance volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven’t already)
  • Willing to attend orientation prior to volunteering
  • Willing to submit a background check
  • Open to an ongoing commitment that works with your schedule
  • Certified
  • Working as a case manager
  • Skilled interpersonally
  • Reliable
  • Patient
  • Honest
  • Organized
  • Able to work independently
  • Open to engaging with people who are facing mental health or substance-abuse struggles
  • Open to engaging with people who are facing homelessness
  • Wiilng to receive UA's case management training
  • Spanish-speaking skills a plus
* Volunteers must be of Christian faith to serve with this opportunity.
