The Health Guardians Volunteer will work under the direction of administrative staff. Health Guardians is an integrated program focused on deterring clients from frequenting the Emergency Room. This role requires performing challenging duties as you assist our Patient Navigators in helping clients navigate the healthcare system. Volunteer may be asked to lead patients in learning groups and should be comfortable doing so. Candidate must possess critical thinking skills, time management, excellent interpersonal skills, and either have a background in, or be majoring in, one of the following: public health, nursing, pre-med, or social work. This position is 5-10 hours/week, for a minimum of 3 months. Must have own transportation as duties will take place at various locations around the city. This position may be able to count as an internship or towards credit with a school or program.
One position is available - position will require a brief interview with program staff.
This position begins in mid-August 2018.

Since 1938 Catholic Charities has been offering life-giving programs, advocating for the voiceless and empowering the most vulnerable to foster a more just society. Catholic Charities has over 22 programs and twoaffiliated ministries in the eight civil parishes of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Our programs engage and serve members of the community from pre-birth to the elderly but all of them fall under one of the following areas:

- housing and homelessness
- disaster recovery
- immigration/refugee resettlement
- justice and employment
- physical and mental health
