Bus Ambassador Needed to Assist Senior Citizens

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans

PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly) GNO has a need to help PACE participants with transportation. PACE provides transportation via a private bus to all of their participants from their home to PACE centers. PACE GNO bus drivers cannot leave the bus unattended in order to aid participants who need help getting onto the bus or into their homes - bus ambassadors will remain with the participants on the bus as the driver aids those boarding or disembarking from the bus. The program is looking for volunteers 18 years of age and older willing to volunteer as Bus Ambassadors. Volunteers should enjoy spending time with elderly populations.

The Bus Ambassador program will begin in late summer with two shifts. Ambassadors can choose between the morning shift (6:30 - 10:30 AM) and the afternoon shift (2:30 - 5:00 PM) departing from the Shirley Landry Benson PACE Center at St. Cecilia.

There will be a mandatory introductory tutorial to the PACE GNO Bus Ambassador Program at the Shirley Landry Benson PACE Center. Volunteers will also be required to attend the Catholic Charities training and undergo a background check. A t-shirt and hat will be provided.
