Help to organize large-scale annual events and support the 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s mission. Honor, remember, and volunteer.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum honors and remembers the nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993. Events volunteers are an essential part of our team at the Memorial & Museum as we organize events including the annual Tribute in Light viewing and the 5K Run/Walk and Community day.

DETAILS:

Events volunteers support event planning, logistics, and execution. Events like the annual commemoration ceremonies of the anniversary of September 11 are critical important to the Memorial & Museum’s mission. Responsibilities include:

- Prepare event materials, including ribbon cutting, bag stuffing, etc.

- Assist with flower preparation

- Distribute materials to guests during events

- Welcome and greet guests

Event training varies per event and will be given in advance of each occasion.

TIME COMMITMENT:

We recommend volunteers work two-hours per week for at least six months, weekdays only. Events take place monthly and are generally 3-4 hours long. Event times may vary - most are during business hours, while some may be during evenings or weekends.

Remember and honor the thousands of innocent men, women, and children murdered by terrorists in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001.

Description

The 9/11 Memorial is located at the site of the former World Trade Center complex in lower Manhattan, and occupies approximately half of the 16-acre site. The 9/11 Memorial features two enormous waterfalls and reflecting pools, each about an acre in size, set within the footprints of the Twin Towers.

The National September 11 Memorial Museum is the country’s principal institution concerned with exploring the implications of the events of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and exploring 9/11’s continuing significance. Located at the bedrock/foundation level of the Twin Towers, the Museum is a moving tribute to the events of September 11 th .
