Join us for the Downriver Council for the Arts' 5th Annual Chestnut Art Fair, held in conjunction with the Wyandotte Street Art Fair. We'll have a vibrant collection of non-traditional artists, crafters, performers, live creators and music, and street food in a fun and casual block party outside on Chestnut Street and inside the DCA building.
Event Date: Friday, July 12 and Saturday July 13
Time: 10am-9pm
Where: Inside 81 Chestnut and outside on Chestnut Street, between First St. and the Alley
This event is free to attend!
We need many people to help with this event and there are many different areas you can help in. You can volunteer in 2-4 hour blocks of time (or more if desired).
DCA booth on Chestnut - Sit at our booth and pass out information on the DCA and our programs and membership. Sell small merchandise items. Direct attendees to check out the inside where we’ll have more vendors. Help out and "booth sit" if a vendor needs to vacate their booth for short time. We like to have 2-3 volunteers at time. Please note: if you are an artist and would like a table in our booth to sell your items or if you would like to paint or create while you volunteer for the DCA, we can accommodate this!
Social Media - Walk around taking photos, videos, checking in and showing the world all the great things going on at the Chestnut Art Fair. Also, the DCA will have a booth on Biddle(Jefferson) in the main fair and we would love it if you could report on that booth as well. Note that this could require some walking.
Keeping things clean, emptying trash cans, tidying up, etc. - This would be a great task for a group. Checking in 2-3 times a day, this group would empty trash and help keep our street clean.
We can also use a couple of volunteers on Thursday, July 11 to help us set up our booth and intake and direct artist vendors.
This is a great opportunity for persons interested in community development. This is an unpaid volunteer position; however, it can also equate to an internship with exchanged hours worked for university credit. You are also able to earn credit hours from a non-profit organization for your group (honor societies, scouts, etc.). We would be happy to make arrangements to accommodate this.
