2017 Service

Looking for a volunteer photographer for two hours to shoot a historic 100th Annual Memorial Service to honor the soldiers of WW1. Held in at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge. Additional information about this event below:

The Descendants and Friends are pleased to announce that our annual Memorial Program will be held on Sunday May 27th at 2:00 PM. This will be the 100th Annual Memorial Service to honor these veterans.

"This year’s service is a poignant reminder of duty, honor, and family. It is something that this unit learned as they came together 100 years ago at Camp Meade and stayed with them through the horrors of war and the remaining years of their lives as they continued to gather annually. These honorable veterans will never be forgotten, and they have passed these important lessons down through several generations," commented Nancy D. Schaff, President of the Descendants & Friends of the 314th.

This year’s program will include reenactors, artifact displays, and a 1918 Dodge Army staff car. The Color Guard will be presented by American Legion Post 901 and Taps will be played by volunteer Aidan Peterson, a 6 th grade student who single handedly lobbied to initiate PA Senate Bill 540, a bill to enable students to be excused from school to play Taps at the funeral of veterans.
