JOB SUMMARY

The Activities Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Activities Manager with logistics and execution of all Programming activities that don’t fall within the Gaming, Panel, DIY Science, Workshops, or Events purviews. The Activities Coordinator will work closely with other Programming Department Managers and the Convention Operations Department.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate fun, diverse activities for convention attendees;
  • Review community activity submissions and select actionable activities;
  • Work with Manager of Gaming, Events, DIY Science, Public Relations, Outreach, and Panels to ensure alignment and no duplication of work;
  • Work with Con Ops Department to coordinate event logistics and space planning.

REQUIRED Qualifications

  • Has strong attention to detail;
  • Is organized, timely, and pays attention to deadlines;
  • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Is able to execute job responsibilities with minimal direct supervision;
  • Is proactive and efficient;
  • Is flexible: can work effectively both independently and within a team.

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • Prior event coordination experience.

What It Means to Volunteer as GeekGirlCon Staff

  • With the exception of the Executive Director, GeekGirlCon staff positions are all volunteer, non-paid positions.
  • Attendance in-person or remotely for staff and departmental meetings is required.
  • Must maintain prompt and professional correspondence.
  • Most work is conducted over email and with in-person meetings in the Seattle area.
  • Between 2-6 hours per week of work is required for this role (including meetings, emails, etc) with more hours leading up to the convention.
  • The staff is a team of highly dedicated, geeky, and passionate volunteers; it’s a lot of hard work, but an amazing experience with lots of opportunity to help build GeekGirlCon for the future!
