Bernadette's House is looking for a motivated, responsible, and passionate person to aide our girls in their math studies. The volunteer Math Tutor understands the importance of math education, uses their impeccable math skills and outgoing personality to help our children to learn. The right volunteer candidate manages student curriculum and assessments, and provides parents with regular updates on their child's progress.
Responsibilities
- Assessing students and communicating results
- Teaching, mentoring, and working with children
- Managing the curriculum needs of students
- Communicating with parents about the progress of their child
- Training and mentoring staff, and assistant instructors
- Managing and updating student records
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field. All majors will be given consideration.
- Exceptional math skills through Calculus
- Ability to professionally interact with students and parents
- Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills
- Energetic, outgoing and confident personality
- Patience and empathy
- Availability to volunteer 2 - 6 hours/week

Description
Bernadette’s House, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) faith-based charitable nonprofit organization that was founded in October 2012. Our volunteer staff is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive home-like environment for preteen and teenage girls who live in and around the Laurel, Maryland area. Careful consideration is made to match each girl in our program with a mentor who is dedicated to developing a nurturing relationship that encourages the mentee to venture on a journey of self-discovery and "dare to dream" of a life full of possibilities. Our program is designed to foster the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills that will enable the girls to make life choices that will have a positive impact on their future.
