The National MS Society is looking for volunteers to help with our upcoming event - Bike MS: Buffalo's Great Lake Escape held on Saturday, August 11 at Evangola State Park. There are many ways to get involved and help make this event successful while working towards a world free of MS.

Groups and individuals of all ages and abilities are invited to volunteer. We are always looking for youth clubs, corporate and service-oriented community groups to lend a hand before, during, and after our events.

Bike MS: Buffalo's Great Lake Escape - Volunteer Positions

Event Set-up - 5:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.

Volunteers will assist with the setup of tables, chairs, materials and signage. You must be able to lift boxes, stand and walk for long periods of time. No seated positions available.

Volunteer Check-in - Multiple shift times available

Prepare volunteer paperwork, instruct volunteers on how to complete paperwork, distribute volunteer t-shirts, answer questions, and direct volunteers to their assigned positions.

Concessions - 5:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Volunteers will provide support by serving event participants food and drinks, stock napkins, cups, plates, and help keep the concession area clean.

Registration Team - 5:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Greet and sign-in participants as well as help registration run efficiently *Volunteers must be 18+ and background check required

Photography Team - Multiple shift times available

Volunteers will take photos of participants and sponsors at the event. *Must have own camera

Merchandise Sales - Multiple shift times available

Volunteers will organize and distribute MS pamphlets and flyers, manage MS mission sales, and answer questions. *Background check required

Start/Finish Monitor - Multiple shift times available

Volunteers will check off cyclists as they cross the finish line.

Spirit Team - 11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers will cheer for cyclists as they cross the finish line. Volunteers are asked to bring lots of enthusiasm, spirit and cheer!

Site Breakdown - 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers will help take down signs, break down tables and pack up event items. Heavy lifting is involved - no seated positions.

Rest Stop - Multiple times and locations available

Volunteers will be assigned to one of the rest stops along the route to distribute water & cheer on cyclists.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services to people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and fifty-state network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Seeking out and engaging volunteers to the MS cause is at the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers three key fundraising activities: The Bike MS Ride, Walk MS and Walk MS Challenge. The Society also engages volunteers to help influence law-makers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as: marketing communications, public relations, corporate and donor development, medical, legal, administrative and organizational expertise.
