Help to Feed the Fires
Volunteers are always out on the river tending to the fires on event nights, working to build a more beautiful city and fulfill the WaterFire experience for our visitors

Interested in being a Firetender? Sign up by going to: https://volunteer.waterfire.org/need/detail/?need_id=789946

Fire Tenders are not only doing a task - they are performers. Boat crews led by Captains and First Mates are responsible for maintaining bonfires and keeping pace with the overall performance. Duties require placing logs onto braziers to rekindle fires, reloading firewood into the boat from under bridges, and working with fellow crew members to uphold the artistic integrity of the installation. This is a quiet performance, symbolizing the affect and influence of a community when individuals work together...

For volunteers 18+ only.

About WaterFire Providence

Location:

475 Valley St, Providence, RI 02908, US

Mission Statement

WaterFire Providence's mission is to inspire Providence and its visitors by revitalizing the urban experience, fostering community engagement, and creatively transforming the city by presenting WaterFire for all to enjoy.

Description

WaterFire Providence Brings Art to the Community, by the Community

WaterFire Providence is known for the lightings that take place downtown with local artists and food vendors. We hope to get back to lightings downtown later this year but for now our main focus is the WaterFire Arts Center (WFAC)! Since the pandemic WaterFire continued to create art for the community, by the community at the WFAC.

WaterFire Providence Volunteers are an integral part of every event we host. They assist in all aspects of event production, special projects, and anything else we dream up.

Volunteers build, perform, inspire, engage, and enjoy! WaterFire volunteers come from all walks of life, and we appreciate the diversity and talents that are among them. Over the years, a network of volunteers has been established, and we are delighted at the community that they have become.

Begin your volunteer experience with WaterFire Providence by signing up now on our Volunteer HQ.
