Alleycat Acres reconnects people, place, and produce with a network of neighborhood run urban farms. In partnership with Seattle Departments of Neighborhoods and Transportation, Stone Soup Gardens, and thousands of community volunteers, we transformed a quarter acre of overgrown, undeveloped street into a vibrant community farm!
We need your help to build and plant the Children's Garden. Join Alleycat and Stone Soup crew members to lend and hand and learn new techniques!
You can expect to:
Learn about edible and sensory plants for the children's garden
Plant and transplant
Remove weeds
Create compost
Mulch pathways
We will provide all the tools and gloves, but ask that you dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.
We will have water and light refreshments available.
It is a short walk down the street to access a public restroom.
More opportunities with Alleycat Acres
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.

Mission Statement
Alleycat Acres reconnects people, place, and produce by transforming underutilized space into a network of neighborhood run farms.
Description
In other words, we make farms happen. Food is more than what we eat: it’s a medium through which we can forge intimate, meaningful relationships between people and place. Farming is a medium that reconnects us, both mentally and physically, to our surroundings. Our entire operation is based on the collective belief that urban food systems are key in creating healthy communities.
Our produce is distributed between our volunteers who worked for the day and a network of agency partners including Food Banks, Supportive Housing, Shelters, and Recovery service providers. Join us at one of our weekly work parties at any of our four farms. All ages and abilities are welcome - our farm coordinators will be on site to walk you through tasks and teach you everything they know about urban gardening!
