The Family Strengthening Program is looking for someone to interpret English/Spanish in Caldwell during our weekly parent support group. On average, the group has 8-10 participants with an English speaking facilitator. An interpreter would be expected to interpret the facilitator’s or guest speaker’s information, group discussion, and questions before and after the presentation. The parent support group is a 20 week program that focuses on the Five Protective Factors.

The Five Protective Factors are as follows

1. Parental Resilience - when adversity or negative situations happen this is the families' ability to overcome
2. Social Supports - healthy relationships for parents and children
3. Parenting and Child Development - a family's knowledge on age appropriate milestones (activities and behaviors) for children, discipline techniques, and parents’ attachment with their children.
4. Concrete Needs - basic needs that a family needs to survive such as food, clothing, and shelter
5. Social Emotional Competence of Children - the ability to articulate feelings when they occur, recognizing everyone has feelings, and how to react
