The Louisiana Children’s Museum is again reaching out to local schools to recruit approximately 50 student volunteers age 15 and up to assist us with our summer camp program, which runs from June 4-August 10 th all day from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Student volunteers are asked to choose between a 7:30 to 3:30 or a 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. shift, but we are somewhat flexible within that range.

We do require a minimum of a one-week commitment, or approximately 40 hours.

We have long-standing robust summer camp that local children attend year after year on a weekly basis (20 children ages 5-8 per camp). The camps are led by two full-time paid seasonal Camp Directors and one Camp Assistant who is also a Louisiana Children’s Museum exhibit facilitator.

Your students will be under the supervision of the Camp Directors, Camp Assistant, as well as our administrative education staff: Education Director, Early Learning Manager, and Visitor Experiences Manager. Together we will orient, train, manage, track, discipline, and monitor student volunteers.

This is a wonderful learning opportunity for students required to earn service hours; students will be engaged with young children in various activities, facilitate their play in our museum during museum time; assist with before and aftercare activities, and depending on their skills, assist with or guide some of the camp art, STEM, or health and fitness activities. We seek students with some childcare experience, or a sincere interest in early childhood, or working with young children.
