Hours Kindness Camp: November 20 - 22 Cozy Camp: December 18 - 22 & 26 - 29 A commitment to a full week or session of camp is required. Volunteers may sign up for more than one camp. Required 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Optional additional hours Before care: 8 am -8:30 am Aftercare: 3:30 pm - 5 pm Reports To Volunteer Manager, Health/Wellness & Camp Director, and Camp Counselors Summary The Camp Volunteer is responsible for supporting the Camp Counselor and Health/Wellness & Camp Director in facilitating daily camp activities providing playful, enriching, hands-on learning experiences for Museum campers with necessary set-up and clean-up. This includes themed programming, time outside, in exhibits, snacks, lunch, and before/after care. The Camp Volunteer must show leadership and accountability and may be able to take a lead role in certain camp activities. The Camp Volunteer will work to create a fun, educational, and safe space for the campers while taking direction from the Camp Counselor and Health/Wellness & Camp Director. Responsibilities Follow all volunteer policies as outlined in the Volunteer Handbook. Assist and support camp staff in maintaining a safe environment for guests. Engage campers in activities throughout the grounds and as assigned. Motivate campers to learn through play. Know pertinent facts about the Museum. Use appropriate communication skills to interact with campers, Parents/Caregivers of campers, other volunteers, all LCM Staff, and visitors. Coordinate with Camp Counselor. Other responsibilities as assigned. Steps to Becoming a Volunteer Interview. After you fill out the application, the Volunteer Manager will reach out to you informing you of your application's status. If successful, you will be asked to sign up for an interview. November Camp: Last timeslot for an interview for camp will be Sunday, November 12th at 3pm. December Camps: Last timeslot for an interview for camp will be Sunday, December 10th at 3pm. Reference Check. We ask that you provide LCM a non-family member as a reference to both your work ethic and personal character. Volunteer Tryout Day. You are given a day to try volunteering at LCM. This allows both you and us to see if we are a good fit for each other. During this day, you will accompany a staff member as they facilitate play in the museum. November Camp: The last day to attend a Volunteer Tryout Day is Sunday, November 18th. December Camps: The last day to attend a Volunteer Tryout Day is Sunday, December 16th. New Volunteer Orientation. If all goes well, you will need to complete New Volunteer Orientation. November Camp Orientation will be held Sunday, November 19th at 9:30 am. December Camps Orientation will be held Sunday, December 17th at 9:30 am.

During the school year: Saturday and Sunday During the breaks and Summer: Tuesday - Sunday (Select Mondays as well) Full day: 9 am - 4 pm Partial day: anytime between 9 am and 4 pm. Preferred shifts are 9 am-12 and 12-4pm Reports To Volunteer Manager, Visitor Services Manager, Visitor Services Associates Summary Visitor Services Volunteer act as the first smiling face guests see when they enter LCM. They answer questions guests may have concerning museum hours, prices, and memberships. One weekends VSVs aid guests as they receive wrist bands, marking their entrance to the museum. Lastly, VSVs act as an extra set of eyes on the front atrium during peak hours. Responsibilities Follow all volunteer policies as outlined in the Volunteer Handbook. Assist and support museum staff in maintaining a safe environment for guests. Engage with guests as they enter the museum. Provide maps for guests as well as answering direction-related questions. Aid in guest check-in. Use appropriate communication skills to interact with children, Parents/Caregivers of children, other volunteers, all LCM Staff, and visitors. Coordinate with Visitor Services Associates, Visitor Services Manager, Museum Experience Manager, Assistant Museum Experience Manager, and LCM Staff. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications Age: At least 14 years old and currently enrolled in 9 th grade Strong communication and customer service skills. Childcare experience is a plus. Ability and willingness to learn. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Previous retail experience or experience in purchasing children’s toys. Willingness to volunteer on the Holidays. Reports To Volunteer Manager, Museum Store Manager, Museum Store Sales Associate. Summary Gift Shop Volunteers are the first smiling person a guest sees when they enter the store. Gift Shop Volunteers assist in the check-out process by wrapping and bagging guests’ purchases. They aid guests in the decision-making process. Lastly, Gift Shop Volunteers act as another set of eyes, ensuring the security of the giftshop. Responsibilities Follow all volunteer policies as outlined in the Volunteer Handbook. Assist and support museum staff in maintaining a safe environment for guests. Engage with guests as they enter the gift shop. Wrap and bag guest purchases. Aid guests in the decision-making process. Use appropriate communication skills to interact with children, Parents/Caregivers of children, other volunteers, all LCM Staff, and visitors. Coordinate with Volunteer Manager, Museum Store Manager, Museum Store Sales Associate, and LCM Staff. Other responsibilities as assigned. Essential Characteristics Dependable, mature role model. Volunteer Tryout Day. If the interview is successful, the potential volunteer will be invited to attend a tryout day where staff will evaluate a potential volunteer’s suitability at LCM. Potential volunteers are also invited to see if LCM is the right fit for them. Background Check. We require that all of our 18+ volunteers submit for a background check. The background check is $14 and is payable (in part or in full) by you or LCM. New Volunteer Orientation. If all goes well, you will need to complete New Volunteer Orientation. These are usually held on the last Saturday of the month at 1 pm. Scheduling your first shift. After New Volunteer Orientation, the Volunteer Manager will reach out to you asking when you would like to start.

Reports To Volunteer Manager Summary Playologist Volunteers rotate through different stations around the museum, facilitating play through prompts, encouragements, and participation. For example, you might be in the Follow That Food exhibit where you could pretend to be at a restaurant and ask a child about the meal he has prepared for you. You might be in the Make Your Mark exhibit and play along with a few children by designing the perfect city. Responsibilities Follow all volunteer policies as outlined in the Volunteer Handbook. Assist and support museum staff in maintaining a safe environment for guests. Engage children in activities throughout the grounds, galleries, and as assigned. Motivate children to learn through play. Ensure galleries are reasonably tidy for guests. Use appropriate communication skills to interact with children, Parents/Caregivers of children, other volunteers, all LCM Staff, and visitors. Coordinate with Play Facilitators, Museum Experience Manager, Assistant Museum Experience Manager, and LCM Staff. Other responsibilities as assigned.
