The purpose of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Pinellas County (RSVP) is to create meaningful opportunities for persons 55 years of age and above to participate more fully in the life of their community through volunteer service. RSVP has partnered with Abilities Foundation to recruit volunteers who are 55+ for the specific opportunities listed below.

About

The Foundation’s vision is to ensure that people with disabilities have the opportunity to participate with dignity in everything that community life has to offer. Its mission is to support the needs of Floridians and military veterans with disabilities through gainful employment, affordable housing, independent living, recreational/cultural resources, advocacy, health, and accessible marketplaces. Thanks to Abilities, Inc. thousands of people who were once dependent upon government and families for support are now contributing the life and economic strength of their communities as productive wage-earners and taxpaying citizens. Your investment in the Foundation ensures that a disability will not stand in the way of person's quest for gainful employment and fulfillment and dignity it engenders.

Current volunteer opportunities include garden upkeep (trimming, weeding, mulching, hauling, pruning, and landscape installation) in the Veterans Tribute Garden Pavilion and Flag Salute area. There are also opportunities with the Veteran's Mall sorting through donations and assisting homeless veterans who are moving into permanent housing shop the mall for needed household items.
