Share the Love of Reading!

Literacy Connections is looking for people who love books, who want to share the gift of reading and writing in the English language with an adult learner. No previous teaching experience is necessary. New volunteers are required to attend a free Orientation session, after which they will complete the online training module, which can be adapted to fit most schedules.

Our next Orientation Session will be held at the Hudson Area Library, Friday, May 11 th from 2-4 pm. The follow-up session is scheduled for Friday, June 8 th from 2-4 pm at the same location or by one-on-one appointment. At the Orientation session you will learn about the difference between Basic Reading and teaching English as a Second Language. You will also learn more about Literacy Connections, other volunteer opportunities, and receive your login information to begin the online tutor training module.

You can sign up for the Tutor Training by e-mail to colgreene@literacyconnections.org or by calling 518-828-1792 ext 104. Please provide your name, e-mail address, phone number and area where you would like to volunteer when registering.

Literacy Connections’ Columbia and Greene County Office is located within the office of the Hudson Area Library and regular hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 am to 5 pm, Wednesdays 1-8 pm and Fridays from 10 am-3 pm. Literacy Connections North is partially funded by the Dyson Foundation United Way of Columbia & Greene Counties, the generosity of friends of literacy and individual community contributions.
