Parents as Teachers Program

VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

DATE: September 2017

POSITION: Intern- Parents As Teachers

SUPERVISOR: Prevention Services Supervisor and Assigned Parent Educator(s)

SUPERVISEE: None

Time Commitment: Minimum of one year of service

DUTIES: Under the direction of the Director of Prevention Services and assigned Parent Educator within the limitations of agency policy, the incumbent shall execute the following duties:

  • Develop and facilitate monthly Parent Group for program participants.
  • Assure that attendance records, evaluations and/or assessment materials for groups are completed and submitted by parents.
  • Assist families in linking to community resources and developing support networks within the community.
  • Develop and implement home visits and clinical services for assigned program participant(s).
  • Document planning, home visits, clinical services and peer reviews within the specified time period.
  • Develop and implement training workshops for staff regarding mental health services.
  • Participate in monthly group Reflective Supervision with staff.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly supervision with the Supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have experience working with children and families as well as knowledge and skills in group dynamics.
  • Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Services or other related field.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required. Availability of hours and holidays based upon local public-school system calendar.
