ORGANIZATION: Emergency Food Network

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 3 people are interested

Emergency Food Network is hosting the 38th annual Hunger Walk & 5K Run at Fort Steilacoom Park! Participants walk or run around Waughop Lake and then head back to the finish line for family-friendly activities and live music. Proceeds from this event benefit EFN, a local non-profit that distributes more than 14 million pounds of food annually to 71 food pantries, meal sites, and shelters in Pierce County to help our neighbors in need.

Course Spirit volunteers are encouraged to dress up in costume and use signs and props to cheer on and direct racers to the finish line!

Additional volunteers assistance is needed for:

  • Route Set Up
  • First Aid Station
  • Registration Booth
  • Kid Zone (face painting and bouncy house)

Check out all the Hunger Walk volunteer positions, times, and details here: http://www.efoodnet.org/hungerwalk2018/volunteer/

To register to volunteer or if you have any questions, please contact EFN's Coordinator of Volunteer Activities at (253) 584-1040 or merrit@efoodnet.org.

About Emergency Food Network

Location:

3318 92nd Street South, Lakewood, WA 98499, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Emergency Food Network is "to provide Pierce County with a consistent, diverse and nutritious food supply so that no person goes hungry."

Description

"Currently, 1 in 10 people in Pierce County face food insecurity, and this need is continuing to rise. Through our 75+ Partner Programs (food pantries, meal sites, and shelters) all over Pierce County, EFN distributed over 14 million pounds of food in 2023 to our neighbors in need, including fresh produce grown at EFN’s Mother Earth Farm. This work was made possible by our 2,000+ volunteers, who worked over 12,000 hours in 2023. Volunteer work is vital in helping EFN pursue our mission of ensuring no person goes hungry. Volunteer opportunities include the Repack Project, Home Delivery, EFN’s Mother Earth Farm, and special events throughout the year. We hope you will join us!"
