Green Everett Partnership Orientation

ORGANIZATION: Forterra

Want to learn more about the Green Everett Partnership, why we formed, and our approach to forest restoration and management? Interested in adopting your own forested park site and helping to lead volunteer restoration events as a Forest Steward? Then join us at our annual Green Everett Partnership Orientation! This serves as both a general community information session as well as the first step to becoming a revered Everett Forest Steward. We will review our 20-Year Plan and we will discuss the many ways that Everett residents can get involved and become a part of the partnership. This event is completely free and there are no obligations or expectations upon attendance. This orientation will include both an indoor lecture and outdoor exploration of a Green Everett Partnership site.

Note: This is not a restoration work party event.

About Forterra

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
