Aegis Hospice is currently seeking compassionate Eleventh Hour Volunteers. Eleventh-Hour Volunteers provide companionship to patients or family members who are not able to have family or friends surrounding them during their last hour. This is an opportunity to provide a level of comforting support to those in their final moments that will bring them grief support and companionship when they could feel alone and unsure of what is happening.
Eleventh-Hour Volunteers accept volunteer assignments based on their schedule and the need of our patients.
We have volunteer opportunities all over the Phoenix metro area!
At Aegis Hospice, we are committed first to care of our patients and the well being of their families. With that belief at the core of everything we do, we know that it can only be achieved through the strength of the team we build.
To volunteer for Aegis Hospice, you must be at least 18 years old. A background check is required, along with a current negative TB screening. A current CPR and First Aid certification is also needed.
Training will be included prior to volunteer placement. Our training prepares all volunteers for the challenges of working with patients and their caregivers and families. Topics include listening skills, grief and loss, the medical aspects of end-of-life, and the psychosocial and spiritual aspects of care. Eleventh-Hour Volunteers receive additional training to ensure they are educated and comfortable with end of life support.
Hospice volunteers are required to provide a calm presence during challenging situations, and we believe our training helps develop these skills.
To become a volunteer, please email your information and our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you as soon as possible.
