ORGANIZATION: The Arc Minnesota & Arc's Value Village

The Arc's Digital and Graphic Design, Thrift Intern is a stipend eligible position for the 2018-2019 school year. This position directly supports The Arc’s Value Village marketing team, this position participates as a member of the team by applying skills in creative design and implementing graphic designs for Arc’s Value Village thrift stores. Arc’s Value Village helps make life better for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. This position includes, but is not limited to, editing and designing digital files for print and online modalities. Work is conducted in collaboration with and under the supervision of retail marketing staff. Duties include

  • Develop annual in-store signage plan for The Arc’s Value Village stores with deliverables and delivery schedule
  • Implement plan on schedule while updating, evaluating and editing existing files
  • Work with team members to conceptualize and develop graphics
  • Develop, recommend and implement compelling new campaign visuals
  • Create, print and deliver designs for point-of-sale, sale and related promotional posters, promotional signage, newspaper ads, etc. meeting quality standards
  • Evaluate and report on strength of assets (designs); make recommendations based on review of competitors’ and best in class
  • Research and recommend processes for on-demand and in-store sign making
  • Provide design & content recommendations for The Arc’s Value Village website; implement changes as directed
  • Evaluate process effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvement
  • Web related work if applicable and other duties and projects as requested
  • A written recap of their experience and what they learned from their internship with Arc

A digital and graphic design focused position for the 2018-2019 school year. Must be available to intern 10-12 hours a week. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. An exit interview will also be conducted to gauge intern experience and to make recommendations for improvement.

The Arc Minnesota is a non-profit grassroots advocacy organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities & their families. Intellectual & developmental disabilities include Down syndrome, autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy & related conditions. The Arc helps people address issues such as early intervention, education, transition to adulthood, employment, housing, health care, guardianship, transportation, supports available to families/caregivers and on policy issues at local, state and national levels.
