ORGANIZATION: PUBLIC ART RESTON

  • 4 people are interested

Public Art Reston is seeking volunteer docents to conduct tours of the public sculptures at Lake Anne Village Center. Some previous or specialized art historical knowledge or artistic interest is preferred. Docents should be energetic and physically able to conduct a 1-1.5 hour walking tour of the site to a group of up to 20 people; have an enthusiasm for Reston, its history and public art; and enjoy public speaking with a voice that can project in an open-air setting. Volunteers will receive training at the site and printed information about the sculptures and their history. Due to training and orientation being necessary, volunteer must commit to one year.

Consider sharing your time to educate the public about this unique site and its public art treasures; and to fostering an interest in past and future public art projects in Reston.

We are also seeking input from current or retired teachers to help us design the tour for families and/or school age groups that is both interactive and geared toward a younger audience.

All interested persons age 18 or over should send their resume and a letter of interest.
