This is an opportunity to join our fabulous Dog or Cat Matchmaking Team!

Matchmaker Volunteers help find perfect forever homes for our animals by greeting potential adopters and introducing them to cats and dogs who are appropriate matches for their family and lifestyle.

This is a fun and super rewarding volunteer job for people who love animals and have a customer service background.

We are beginning a new training cohort of Matchmakers on Saturday, April 21st and wonder if maybe you would make an excellent member! Being a Matchmaker requires that you first learn how to handle and work with our SF SPCA dogs or cats, even those with some behavioral issues. Before your actual Matchmaker training, you go through the shelter volunteer training and volunteer walking dogs or socializing with cats for about 6 weeks before Matchmaking begins. Requirements include:

  1. Being available and able to attend all of the following training dates:

    Saturday, April 21st - 10:00-2:00
    Saturday, April 28th - either 9:00-Noon, Noon-3:00, or 3:00-6:00
    Saturday, June 2nd - 10:00-2:00
    Tuesday, June 26th - 6:00-9:00 PM
    Saturday, June 30th - 6:00-9:00 PM

  2. Being available and able to begin volunteering (2-3 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months...schedule is flexible) starting the week of April 29th.
  3. Able to easily get up and down from the floor or low stool.
