The Advocacy Volunteer will directly assist the CEO of Lutheran Social Services by tracking proposed bills as they move through the AZ legislature. By tracking ongoing changes in government, LSS-SW can be on the forefront of how these proposed bills will impact our clients and our community. The Advocacy Volunteer will allow LSS-SW to better prepare and strategically plan the most effective manner in which we must move forward in serving clients in need across the state of Arizona.
Responsibilities and key deliverables- Research and track proposed bills as they move through the AZ legislature
- Update the LSS-SW Legislation Tracking Form on a weekly basis
- Alert the CEO of movement of specific bills through the process
- Volunteer must have basic computer skills
- Interest and basic understand of state legislature and bills process
The volunteer may work remotely but should have access to a computer.
Clearances required & trainingThis role requires a Verified Volunteer background check ($17), volunteers are responsible for the cost. All LSS-SW volunteers are required to complete a Central Registry background check (no cost) during the volunteer orientation. Further training will be provided.
Location & timeframeThe volunteer may serve remotely. Volunteer should commit to serve until the end of legislative session in June 2018.
