We are seeking a volunteer who will assist staff members by stocking shelves, sorting through food to ensure freshness, helping with Food Shelf/Meal Program pickups, accepting donations from food drives, and maintaining general organization of shopping area.
Second Harvest Heartland offers a service to our Partner Agencies-- the Food Shelves, Meal Programs, and Homeless Shelters that get food from us, called Agency Shopping. Agency Shopping is where these partners of ours can come and pickup their orders and shop our shelves. The product in our Agency Shopping Area, cannot be added to our regular inventory because it is a smaller quantity, or because it is fresh produce or dairy produces that is approaching its end of shelf life. Often the food the Partners pickup from Agency Shopping are used to prepare meals the very same day or the next!
This position requires a commitment of a minimum of 6-months, one day a week. Times of day include: 8:30-12:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm.
