A very busy food bank in Tacoma is looking for additional volunteers. Do you have four hours a week and would like to help those in need? Are you positive, outgoing and comfortable meeting and helping people? If so we would love to have you as volunteer at a local Tacoma Food Bank. Here are the opportunities available:
OVERSEER - provides direction and guidance for clients
SCALE ATTENDANT - weighing and separating food items
STOCKER - ensure shelves are properly stocked
WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT - unload deliveries
TRANSLATOR - Russian and Spanish
DRIVER - Pick up deliveries from various locations, deliver groceries to clients, load and unload supplies. For this position you must have a current driver's license and insurance, be able to perform light to moderate physical tasks, excellent interpersonal skills and self motivated but able to follow directions. The Drivers ensure access to food for the elderly and disabled. Drivers should always be kind and respectful to all clients and drive safely at all times.
GARDENER - Experience with gardening preferred. General gardening duties: water, fertilize soil as necessary, weed and prune garden areas, ensure proper storage of garden equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work independently or with a team, ability to lift and carry 15-20 lbs.

As an RSVP volunteer, you are strengthening the positive impact people 55 and older have in our communities. You will also meet nice people, have fun and feel good about your contribution. Our focus is to incorporate meaningful volunteer opportunities that provide purpose and a way to give back to the community.
