Utah’s Hogle Zoo’s Volunteer Zoo Aide program is designed to give volunteers the opportunity to learn about the animal world, its ecology and conservation, make new friends, develop new skills and contribute to the quality of life in our community. Our Zoo Aide Volunteer program offers opportunities to support husbandry activities in animal areas.
Husbandry Zoo Aides work with zoo keepers to provide exceptional care for our resident animals. Volunteers prepare diets, clean exhibits, and many other tasks.

Zoo Aide Requirements:
Ability to closely follow instructions and must be physically capable to perform strenuous work. All zoo aide volunteer positions require an annual tuberculosis test. Not recommended for those with hay allergies.
This is a one-year commitment of one four-hour shift a week on the same day. Due to high demand, we have very limited weekend openings for Zoo Aides.
There is no contact with the animals, although volunteers work in close proximity and can study their behavior. There are no Zoo Aide positions available with Elephant Encounter.
