Position Summary

In addition to its ten galleries in St. Paul, MN, Minnesota Children’s Museum is recognized as the largest producer of children’s traveling exhibits touring North America. This position will assist the growing traveling exhibit business with gathering, documenting, and archiving information.

Major Job Accountabilities

The exact duties and projects will be determined by mutual agreement of the intern and museum staff. All duties will be carried out with the direction and supervision of the Traveling Exhibits Manager or Traveling Exhibits Coordinator.

  • Thoroughly study ins and outs of 13 traveling exhibits.
  • Compile exhibit component drawings, graphics, AV files, and parts lists for archives.
  • Create master documentation list of archives.
  • Organize back-up technology and exhibit parts.
  • Update site support manuals for Museum Site Hosts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  1. Detail oriented, organized, self-motived individual
  2. Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  3. Demonstrates proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite of products
  4. Demonstrates initiative (e.g., in starting tasks, asking questions, identifying and discussing problems, ability to structure own work, stay on task)
  5. Ability to express ideas clearly both verbally and in writing
  6. Ability to explore ideas and implement with creativity, imagination, and resourcefulness
  7. Ability to apply knowledge and area of expertise to the museum setting and add value to identified priorities and goals
  8. High level of enthusiasm, energy, and professionalism
  9. Ability to organize time, follow directions and stay on task

  1. Intern orientation
  2. Policies and practices of the traveling exhibit business
